Weekly Update-May 25

Announcements

What an amazing last week! The students and I had so much fun celebrating this past year. I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your support and for letting me have the privilege of working with your child. It was a wonderful year that flew by way too fast. I have told all the third graders to make sure and visit me next year when they're big 4th graders!

I will see some of you again soon, as I am teaching the second two weeks of 4th grade summer school.

In the Classroom

We celebrated our ABC of Third Grade books on Monday. Students got to eat letter cookies as they shared their memories of this past year. One student was even able to make some special words with his letters!

On Thursday, we had our annual Cooking Day! In our classroom, we learned about solids, liquids, and gasses. We then made root beer/orange floats that have all three states of matter.

Students rotated through the other 3rd grade classrooms and got to make trail mix, fruit kabobs, mini tacos, and decorate cupcakes! Thank you to everyone who donated supplies to make this day possible.

We had a fun last day filled with yearbook signing and popsicles!

Weekly Update-May 19

Announcements

It is hard to believe we are about to start our last week of school! The students and I are busy finishing up projects and activities, but making sure to enjoy our last few days together.

We had an awesome field day! Our station was the shoe fling, and we have some very talented shoe flingers!

We also got some pictures from Jump the Creek!

Yearbooks came home on Friday. If your third grader would like to have his/her classmates sign it, please send it back on the last day of school.

The 3rd grade Cooking Day is next week! Please send in any supplies Tuesday, May 23. Feel free to send things in earlier if they are non-perishable.

As we will be doing lots of cleaning next week, our class would appreciate any donations of Clorox wipes. If you would like to send a plastic bag for your third grader's supplies, we will be doing most of our cleaning on Tuesday, May 23rd.

In the Classroom

We finished our Measuring unit this week. Students measured themselves and things around our classroom on Thursday. We first had to estimate and then choose which measuring tools and unit would make sense to find the actual measurements.

We also held a Measurement Olympics! Congratulations to our gold medalists!

Students have completed their ABC book of third grade! We will celebrate these books on Monday. If students finished their book early, I had them write a letter to themselves in their Weekly Journals. All journals were sent home Friday and do not need to be returned. I hope your family will enjoy these journals for a long time!

We continued our whole class book club on Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

As we finished our Life Cycle unit last week, we used this time to do end of year activities. We wrote a letter to our 4th grade teachers and wrote about the top ten things of 3rd grade.
