What an amazing year it has been! It went by so fast, but I am very grateful I had the opportunity to work with this wonderful group of third graders and their families. I will be teaching the first two weeks of 4th grade summer school, so I will be seeing some of you very soon. I hope everyone has a great summer!

We ended our year with a surprise mini baby shower, the 5th grade parade, and popsicles with friends.

What an amazing last full week! The students and I enjoyed the beautiful weather Tuesday at Runge Nature Center. We saw lots of living and non-living things, and were able to identify the 4 components of an ecosystem. Thank you to our volunteers for spending the day with us!

Field Day was also a blast!

In the Classroom

We finished up our math unit and spent time playing our favorite math games this week. Students worked hard and mostly completed their ABC Book of 3rd Grade. Some students may want to finish their pictures at home. We had fun celebrating our year!

Friday folder checklists were removed this week so I could begin progress reports. If I have a concern, I will contact you by phone or email.

In the Classroom

We did lots of multiplication this week in math! Students are working on difficult problems like 4 x 90 and 5 x 49. We're practicing how to use a basic fact or break a factor apart to help us solve. We also spent one day practicing elapsed time by planning a field trip to the zoo!

We began our final writing project this week. Students are creating an ABC book of their third grade year. I hope it will be a fun keepsake for your third grader.

We finished our whole class book club on Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing this week!

We had a very exciting week in science! We had 11 out of our 12 eggs hatch! Students loved seeing and hearing the whole process. We even caught one hatching on video.

Their favorite part was definitely being able to read to and play with the chicks.
