Announcements
We are winding things down here in room 215! It is hard to believe we have just a couple of more days together. Please note our last day of school is Thursday, June 3. It will be an early release at 12:50, so let me know if your 3rd grader will be getting home a different way than usual.
If your 3rd grader lost their iPad charger, please have them bring in a replacement. We are also still missing a few library books.
Grade cards will come home on the last day of school. This is also when we will be signing year books/memory books.
Friday was Field Day! While the weather was not exactly what we expected, the students still had a blast.
In the Classroom
For our final reading project, we are doing a whole class book club for Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Some days we listen to the audio version of the book while following along. Some days, students get to choose if they would prefer buddy reading, independent reading, or a read aloud from me. Students are so engaged in this classic book, and we are having the best conversations!
For our final writing project, students are making an ABC book of their 3rd grade year. We are all on the publishing stage and will be bringing these home next week. (If students are unable to finish, I will make sure they have enough template pages to finish at home). I hope you will help them find a safe place to store this keepsake of their year.
In math, we finished our Fraction unit last week. We started our last unit this week but will not be able to get far. Students attending summer school will continue with the learning from our math curriculum.
In science, students have been exploring magnets! We have loved learning about magnet attraction and poles.
We then studied electromagnetism as well as static electricity. We had a special guest on Thursday for a virtual field trip! Mike Lilien, a Paxton 3rd grade parent, shared about his job as a forensic electrical engineer.
