In the Classroom
We finished division in math and have moved on to Geometry. As this is a very vocabulary-heavy unit, we will be spending lots of time going over words, definition, and examples. I will be sharing multiplication timed tests as well as division tests at conferences. In writing, students have finished their non-fiction pieces! We will celebrate next week and then begin our unit on opinion writing. Students are working on fiction chapter books in reading.
We successfully had our Mystery Skype last week! Our mystery state was Vermont, and the students did a wonderful job asking/answering questions and researching to figure out which state our mystery class was in. We will definitely be partaking in more Mystery Skypes this year, as it was so much fun and the students put their geography skills to use!
We will be starting our Ecosystems science unit next week. As part of this unit, students will be making bottle ecosystems. Our class will need about 15 clear, 2-liter soda bottles. If you have any empty bottles at home, please wash them out and send them with your third grader. Thank you in advance!
