I have absolutely loved having your child as a 3rd grader this year. This class was like a family from the very beginning, and I could not be more grateful to have been their teacher. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer!

We learned about our final country of Australia on Thursday! Since I have been to this country, I was able to share my photos and souvenirs with the students. We learned about and created Aboriginal Dot Art, read books about the culture, and studied the Great Barrier Reef.

Field Day on Friday was a blast!

Here are pictures from our nature field trip to Fairview Park!

In the Classroom

Last week, we practiced our reading fluency with Reader's Theater. I was so impressed with how the four groups worked together, practiced their reading, and created props and backgrounds.

I am so proud of all the 3rd graders for working so hard during MAP testing these past two weeks! I know they are thankful to be finished and ready to get back to our routine for a few days.

Yearbooks were sent home on Friday. If your 3rd grader would like to have it signed, please have them bring it back on the last day of school. All students will have memory books to sign if they would prefer that instead of the yearbook.

This week, we had our final library checkout. Please help students locate their library books and return them on Monday. Third graders will begin getting late notices soon for any books not turned in.

We had a fabulous last day with Ms. Olson!

Here is a note from her:

Dear 3rd grade families,

I wanted to express my gratitude to you and your students for your generosity with my end of year gift. I can't thank you all enough for all the school supplies, gift cards, cards, drawings from the kids, and so much more. All of it will be so helpful as I begin teaching in my own classroom!

I truly had the best time student teaching in Mrs. Fox's class and I will never forget each of your loving students and how much they helped me grow. They were always my biggest cheerleaders and I looked forward to seeing them every day. It was amazing to see how much each of them accomplished over this past semester! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of their 3rd grade year.

Thank you again for your support and generosity!

Sincerely,

Emma Olson

The class did wonderful at our Spring Sing last week!

We celebrated the country of Greece last month! Students created vases with Greek symbols for our craft. As always, we learned about Greek geography, food, and customs. We have one more country left this year!

In the Classroom

Last week, students chose their famous Missourian for their project. We researched using a variety of digital sources. This week, students drafted and recorded their speeches. We are excited to show you all the final projects at the breakfast on Friday!

In between MAP testing, students finished our last unit in our reading curriculum. Students are creating an ABC book of their year in writing. On Friday, we completed our last Weekly Journal letter. Students can now keep these journals at home. I hope they will enjoy looking through them for many years to come!
