 Announcements

It is hard to believe it is already the end of the year! Thank you so much for your support these past 10 months. We will plan to do something special these final 4 days of school! If your 3rd grader would like to, they may bring a board game in on Monday.

Please note the last day of school is Thursday, May 26th. This will be an early release at 12:50. If your 3rd grader is getting home a different way than usual, please let me know. Students will receive their grade card on this day, as well as the school supply list and open house information for next year.

If your 3rd grader purchased a yearbook and would like to get autographs, please have them bring it on the last day of school. If they did not purchase one or do not want it autographed, I made Memory Books for each student they can use.

Please make sure your 3rd grader has returned all library books.

We had our first annual Spring Sing Wednesday morning!

We had an absolute blast on our field trip to Fairview Park on Friday. This was the first time we have taken a field trip to our neighboring school, and we are so glad we did. Mrs. Patton made sure we crossed Broadway safely, and then we were off to explore. We talked about walking safely around busy streets and played lots of I Spy on the way there.

Once we got there, students explored different areas of the park including the pond, trails in the woods, and the playground. We talked about ecosystems, living vs. non-living, and weather.  It was a great way to wrap up the year!

We had a wonderful Field Day Friday afternoon! Students rotated through 10 stations including Tug of War, Shoe Fling, and the 3-Legged Race.

In the Classroom

We have been wrapping things up here in the classroom! For our final Health unit, students have been learning about safety. We've discussed how to be safe in our houses, as well as around various substances.

In math, we began our final unit. We will not have time to do all of the lessons, but we are focusing on using multiplication skills to solve extended facts. We have also been squeezing in lots of games and apps that students can use over the summer!

In reading, we began a whole class book club on Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. The students have loved listening to Judy Blume read this book and following along in their own copy. We are making some wonderful connections to the characters in the book.

In writing, students are working on an ABC book of their 3rd grade year. Hopefully this will be a keepsake for your family, along with the Weekly Journals sent home last week.
