Science-By Hannah

Today in science, we tried to see which paper towel was the best at absorbing. First we had to write what we noticed about how the paper towels were different.

Some things we noticed were the different designs, that some were thicker than others, and that some felt soft and some felt rough.

We got 5 cups of liquids and we had 5 different kinds of paper towels. We put a strip of each paper towel into each cup and waited for a minute. Then we took them out and measured how much liquid was absorbed on each one.

Then each group compared how much liquid each paper towel absorbed. We went to the carpet and shared our results. They were very different! It's because we were not following the rules of scientists. We all used different liquids and amounts to test the paper towels. Scientists usually only change one thing but we changed a lot. Scientists call it a fair test when they only change one thing.

Dictionaries-By Sean

Today some guests came in to our classroom. They were from the Rotary Club. They gave every third grader a dictionary.

The dictionary tells words and what the words mean. They also have a multiplication table, Roman numerals, metric measurement, and lots more.

We will be using the dictionaries until the year is over. After the year is over, you get to bring home the dictionary.

Thank you to the Rotary Club!
