We completed Weekly Journals for the last time this week! Students were asked to write in cursive, so the letters are a little shorter than usual. Please feel free to keep this notebook as a memento from their third grade year.

This was also the last week for Friday folder comments. I asked students to write one thing they are really proud of accomplishing this year.

We had a special guest come to our classroom Thursday. Mr. Fox recently published his first children's book! He came and read to students, and they had the opportunity to ask him questions. They wanted to know what inspired him to write this book, how long it took him, why he chose a sloth for the main character, and more. If you would like to purchase a copy of his book, let me know!

In the Classroom

We started our final math unit this week. Students were excited to get back to our routines during this time. We learned a new multiplication game called Product Pile-Up.

This week, students took the STAR Reading Assessment. We also continued with our whole class book club on Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.

Students worked hard to complete their two poems for our class poetry book. We finished drafting this week, revised and edited with a partner, and met with the the teacher. Finally, students published their pieces. We will begin our final writing project next week.

We have more guests living in our classroom! As part of our life cycles unit, 3rd graders have the opportunity to watch the beginning stages of a chick's life. We received our eggs on Monday and have been keeping them nice and warm. Students learned about the first 21 days of a chick's life and  the different parts of the egg. We are hopeful to have chicks to play with next week!
