Just a reminder, we have no school on October 4, as it is a teacher work day.
We had a blast during our class Camp Out Day on Friday! The students were comfortable while they worked on math games, and even had their stuffed animals help them complete their journal page.
We spent the afternoon completing our Weekly Journal letters, reading, and eating a smore treat by the campfire.
On Friday, we had the opportunity to visit with the Boone County Historical Society! They brought toys, clothing, and household items from the past. The students loved exploring with them and learning about what Missouri was like!
The Comet Carnival is quickly approaching! We needs families to help as much as possible to ensure our carnival is a success. Our class basket for the auction is Gift Card themed. Please use the link below to see more information and sign up.
In the Classroom
We finished our Missouri Geography and History unit last week. We played a version of Oregon Trail to wrap up our unit. The students had a blast making decisions along the trail!
We began our Ecosystems unit in Science this week. Students learned what an ecosystem is, how it can change, and what happens to the living and nonliving things. We took a coloring break after learning about deciduous trees!
Be on the lookout for more information about some fluffy visitors that will be spending a couple of weeks in our room later this month!
We finished our first math unit last week. Students took a short test to assess their skills for the concepts we studied. We began Unit 2 this week with a focus on solving number stories. We learned to use a guide to help us understand the problem, solve using an appropriate strategy, and check our answer for reasonableness.
We also began our new Reading and Writing unit this week. The unit is based on fictional texts. This week, we learned how to provide evidence for our inferences and how to identify the plot elements. In writing, students have started analyzing and crafting opinion pieces.
