Weekly Update-August 19

Announcements

Wow! It has been an amazing week with this spectacular group of third graders. It has flown by, but we already have a sense of community and know tons about each other. I am looking forward to beginning more of our curriculum next week so the real learning can take place!

We played many Get to Know you games this week, including Call of the Wild and Roll a Friend. Ask your third grader to tell you more about them!

We also used Plickers to play Would you Rather. I discovered most third graders would rather find out their parents are secretly spies rather than aliens. : )

Each week, we will have a different guest blogger. This week Owen A. took pictures of students brainstorming how they wanted their classroom, classmates, and teacher to look/be/act.

In math on Friday, students had the opportunity to play with math manipulatives. They created domino tracks, built towers, and made patterns. We discussed how starting next week, these manipulatives become tools we will use to further our learning.

I enjoyed all the Me Museum displays! The students loved seeing and hearing about these special objects.
