Announcements
Thank you to everyone for attending parent-teacher conferences! Our next round will be at the beginning of March.
Since Paxton had such an amazing Food Drive this year, we are celebrating with a Cozy Day on Tuesday! Students are allowed to wear pajamas or cozy clothes and bring a stuffed animal.
We had such an enjoyable field trip to the Missouri Theater last week!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
In the Classroom
In reading this week, students used non-fiction texts about voting rights to practice a variety of skills. We learned how to summarize, sequence events, and infer. In library this week, students learned how to use an index. They used cookbooks to practice finding an ingredient and then a corresponding recipe.
We also had a book break with our last read aloud author, Zetta Elliott. Zetta wrote Dragons in a Bag. There are 6 more books in the series, and many students are excited to keep reading them. I know they have them at the Daniel Boone Public Library.
Students are working hard on their biographies! Most students have begun typing, while some are finishing their first drafts and editing. We hope to have these done the week we get back from Thanksgiving Break.
In math this week, students have been working hard on subtraction strategies. Here is a poster showing the main strategies students are using.
We started a short Health unit this week. Students learned about pathogens, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and our immune system.
