 Announcements

With the crazy few weeks we have had, I have not done a blog post in quite some time! Hopefully you'll enjoy the information and pictures from this month.

Our class is in need of loose leaf paper. We would appreciate any donations!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Party on Monday! The students enjoyed passing out and receiving their cards. They completed an animal Lego set and had fun playing Bingo.

Last Friday, we had Tinker Time with Mrs. Hanson in the media center. The students get to choose an option that sounds interesting to them. They absolutely love this time!

Earlier this month, our class visited the Technology Museum! This was set up by our media specialists, and went along with our Technology unit in our reading and writing curriculum. Students were able to see and interact with technology from the past.

In the Classroom

In science, we have spent time exploring the force of magnetism. Students learned what metals are attracted to magnets and where the strongest parts are. We also had a mystery box activity that used a magnet to figure out what types of objects were under the lid!

Finally, we were tasked with opening a paper door by using a magnet. This was a challenge, but the students enjoyed experimenting.

In math, we finished Unit 5 this month. This unit was full of fractions and multiplication. I will be sharing the assessment at our conference. Unit 6 has more multiplication strategies, and also includes word problems.

We started our new reading unit this month. It focuses on realistic fiction stories, and asks students to make connections, analyze character traits, and infer what the author is saying. In writing this month, we finished our technology opinion pieces by typing them. I will be sharing these at our conference.

For our new writing unit, students were tasked with analyzing a narrative and then creating an ending that would fit with the characters, setting, and plot.
