  Announcements

In case you missed it, the School Board voted to return to 5 days a week in-seat learning beginning April 5th. I anticipate this will change our special schedule, but will send a new one out when it becomes available. Please have students keep the Zoom code accessible in case we need to quarantine as a class.

Summer School enrollment is open! This year, summer school will go from June 14-July 23. Use this link to enroll online and find more information. Please let me know if you need a paper copy to fill out.

Our class is running low on a few school supplies. If you would like to donate any of the following, we would greatly appreciate it!

-pencil top erasers
-earbuds
-scissors

On Friday, Mrs. Hanson did a Basketball Makerspace Challenge with us! The challenge was to use the materials given to make a hoop and catapult. The students drew their designs first and then got building. They had to make lots of changes based on what was working and not working.

Here is a video of Anderson testing his out!

In the Classroom

In reading and writing, we started our new unit called Making Decisions. This is a fiction unit focusing mainly on character traits/motivation, problem/solution, and narrative features. Students have practiced putting all these skills together by crafting endings to narrative pieces of writing.

In math this week, we continued exploring multiplication strategies. We played two games this week to help solidify this concept. Roll and Record helped us memorize the multiplication squares such as 6 x 6 and 8 x 8. We also played Salute! This is a fun game for 3 people. Two students place a number card on their foreheads without looking at it. The 3rd player multiplies the two numbers and says the product. The first person to say the missing factor on their forehead is the winner of the round.

We started our new Social Studies unit this week called Missouri Geography/History of Settlement and Westward Expansion. We started by focusing on our place in the World and learning map skills. We also studied the regions of our country and border states of Missouri.
