If you see your 3rd grader's keyboard at home, please send it back on Monday. Students will start having their Media special on Thursday next week.

In the Classroom
We completed Unit 4 in our Reading and Writing curriculum. In reading, we learned about creating mental images in our head while we read. We also compared and contrasted a character from two different stories in our magazine. Students completed the AIMS reading assessment this week. In writing, students learned how to include dialogue, descriptive details, and transitions into their pieces. We finished this unit by writing a journal entry from the perspective of a character from our magazine. I will share these pieces with you at our conference, but here are the writers in action.
In math this week, we learned about perimeter and area. Students used rulers to practice measuring, and we also looked at efficient strategies to calculate both things. Students completed the AIMS math assessment.
We studied hazardous weather this week. Students learned about causes for floods, high wind storms, lightening, and hurricanes. We also discussed how people can prepare for these storms to lessen the impact.
